The Suhler Singakademie founded in 1976, is the leading musical formation in the region. Directed by Matthias Beckert from 2007 to 2012, the choir performed a variety of Suhl premieres, i.a. Rubinstein's ‘Paradise Lost', Bruch's ‘Moses', Suter's ‘Le Laudi', Tippett's ‘A Child of Our Time', Kodaly's ‘Psalmus hungaricus', Elgar's ‘The Dream of Gerontius', Dvorák's ‘Requiem', Schumann's ‘Paradise and the Peri', and Pärt's ‘Passio'.
